ABOUT
SPRING FESTIVAL
FALL FESTIVAL

Boise Tuesday Musicale is affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) and organizes annual NFMC Music Festivals according to the requirements of the national organization. These festivals are an opportunity for students to receive adjudication from an experienced judge/teacher, who will write constructive feedback about their performance and assign a grade.

Boise Tuesday Musicale's NFMC festivals are separated into Fall Festival and Spring Festival.

The membership requirements, rules and regulations, and student repertoire for festivals can be found in the NFMC Bulletin which is revised every 3-4 years. While regulations change very little between editions, the repertoire for student performance is changed with each revision, so teachers are strongly urged to purchase the latest edition of the NFMC Bulletin. The NFMC Bulletin can be purchased by emailing NFMC at info@nfmc-music.org or calling 317-882-4003.

There is a great deal of volunteer work involved in producing the NFMC festivals, and all teachers are expected to participate in helping to make the event successful and positive for everyone. Participating teachers are required to provide a number of volunteers to assist throughout the event as requested by their respective festival chair. To fill your volunteer slots, consider involving your student's parents or any high school aged or older students from your studio.

Judging

For all events in Festival, students will provide original music for the judge. In events where the student uses music instead of playing from memory, an additional score will be required and provided by the student for the judge's uses. Photocopies are never allowed.

When a student receives their grade from a judge, a number of points are earned. Once a student has accumulated 15 points in any single event, they will receive a National Federation of Music Clubs trophy. For students under ages 19 and under, this trophy is a gold cup. For adult students over the age of 19, this is a silver cup. With every additional 15 points, the cups increase in size.
